Workshop Overview

Nonprofit organizations are encouraged to attend this in-person training session designed to help agencies prepare for the Greater Cabarrus Foundation’s upcoming grant cycles:

  • Greater Cabarrus Foundation Grants

  • Uwharrie Community Fund Capacity Building Grants

The Greater Cabarrus Foundation Annual Grant Cycle supports nonprofit programming and community impact initiatives serving Cabarrus County residents, while the Uwharrie Community Fund Capacity Building Grant Program focuses on strengthening nonprofit leadership, infrastructure, governance, and operational sustainability.

What You’ll Learn

Participants will:

  • Learn about the goals and focus areas of each grant program

  • Review eligibility requirements and application timelines

  • Walk through the scoring rubrics used during the evaluation process

  • Receive guidance on submitting applications through GCF’s online grant management system

  • Learn how agencies may apply for both opportunities

  • Ask questions and gain insight into preparing stronger applications

About the Presenter

Cam Cruickshank, Ph.D., is the President and CEO of the Greater Cabarrus Foundation. He is an accomplished higher education and nonprofit executive with more than 30 years of experience leading organizational growth, strengthening financial sustainability, and advancing mission-driven impact. He is also an experienced consultant and entrepreneur.

Dr. Cruickshank previously served as President of Cabarrus College of Health Sciences, overseeing all academic, financial, operational, and external functions. During his tenure, the college achieved record enrollment growth, expanded its academic programs, increased student diversity, and strengthened its financial and philanthropic position.

He has supported strong governance through service on nonprofit boards including the Salvation Army of Greater Charlotte, the Cabarrus Healthcare Foundation, and the Cabarrus Health Alliance Community Health Center.
